Process Redesign

Human capital performance is often related to-and dependent on-the business processes that guide an organization's operations. Some business processes have been left obsolete or in need of serious enhancement by mergers and acquisitions, technology enhancements, and shifts in organizational focus. This can often cause performance issues with employees, even when proper strategies around selection and training are deployed. If the underlying business processes does not support the new strategy, even the best human capital strategies can fail.

Vangent's Process Analysis and Redesign model prevents that failure. It determines the desired future state of a new strategy, while analyzing the impact of that new strategy on the underlying business processes. But before it does that, it looks at the strategy's current state, and then develops new or enhanced processes to bridge the gap between that and the future strategy.

Then, Vangent determines what job roles/tasks will be necessary to support the new or enhanced business process. The job roles/tasks are prioritized and examined, based on their criticality and ability to be measured.

Finally, learning and selection strategies are recommended. This ensures that (1) you are developing the appropriate skills to support the process and that (2) you are hiring the right people to work within the process.

Consider the challenge of one Vangent customer, who wanted to deploy training to support a new CRM system. After analyzing the training strategy with the client, Vangent spotted a fundamental issue with the entire strategy: The customer needed to revamp their sales and service process in order to make the CRM system (and subsequent training) successful. Rather than build training on top of an old process, Vangent recommended that the sales and service process be augmented in a number of areas before training would be deployed.

This is just one example of how our bottom-up approach to performance management gives our clients the tools they need to think about all the variables that can impact the success of their human capital strategies.
